Staying
Healthy
Avoiding the
progression of liver disease is essential to maintaining overall
health and well-being.
The Centers
for Disease Control estimates that 70 percent of those chronically
infected with hepatitis C ultimately will develop chronic liver
disease.
While most
of those with chronic hepatitis B will remain "healthy carriers"
for their entire lives and not demonstrate any evidence of liver
damage, others will ultimately develop liver failure (cirrhosis)
and/or liver cancer.
It is important
that you take good care of yourself. In this section, we focus
on treatment options, the role of nutrition and diet, and herbs
and supplements, in the effort to remain healthy.
